About Me

A Craftsmans Journey

I have always made things with my hands and I wanted a career I could be proud of and make beautiful things and that's what's led me down this path.

I started studying stonemasonry, part-time in London at the age of 17, funding my train fare by working in a shop. I was adamant to focus on traditional skills and managed to procure an apprenticeship at Canterbury Cathedral where I worked on really exciting projects such as the restoration of the Great South Window and the West Towers. Part of my training involved a foundation degree in Cathedral Stonemasonry. I traveled and attended lectures in various cathedrals then returned to Canterbury and put the knowledge to use. I learned about the history or architectural styles, conservation techniques and wrote reports on the history and interventions of parts of the cathedral.

After 5 years at Canterbury I decided to study a degree in Historic Stone Carving at City in Guilds of London Art School. I wanted the chance to create more interesting work and to improve my skillset. Carving gives one the chance to be more creative and have more influence on design. I became self employed  and have since worked on projects at the Houses of Parliament, Trafalgar square and small parish churches.
